We’re celebrating School Space officially raising £2 million in revenue for our partner schools!

“One of the things we’re most proud of is that over £1m of that was over the last year, during the pandemic. We have always been especially careful to provide our school partners with a service which grows bookings and community use, but also retains them – and we made sure that through our support and managing lockdowns speedily and with integrity, the schools didn’t lose out over the pandemic.”

“School Space secures £800,000 to help schools generate revenue from underused space” (ClearlySo)

"School Space, a leading platform for schools to generate extra funds by hiring out their spaces, announced today that it has secured £800,000 in equity funding with the help of ClearlySo, Europe’s leading impact investment bank. School Space was founded by Jemma Phibbs and James Lloyd seven years ago when they were 17, in their last year at school, and following recent expansion they have completed the TechStars accelerator and been recognised by the London Mayor’s office on their growth programme."

“3 Startups Show The Rise Of Tech For Good At Techstars London Demoday” (Forbes UK)

School Space in Forbes!

"School Space was started in 2011 by its Founders Jemma Phibbs and James Lloyd. They started the company after they found their own school struggling to obtain the funding to be able to provide high-quality teaching and facilities.

The school ended up being rated as requiring "special measures" by government organisation Ofsted, which shows that a school has fundamental weaknesses that need to be fixed.

Phibbs and Lloyd quickly came up with a solution where the school would rent out some of their facilities for sports activities and events, allowing the school to raise the funding to invest in improving its standing.

Since then, School Space has helped fund schools across the UK and has paid out more than £500,000 in rental fees to its partner schools. This is done through the School Space platform, which allows anyone to easily book spaces in schools, much like booking rooms on platforms such as Airbnb."
